Automatic Traffic Light "Green" for emergency vehicles and/or public traffic
For emergency vehicles of fire brigades, ambulance and police, lost minutes can be fatal.
For the corresponding emergency services, this means: Every second counts!
AM.COM system ensures free driving at intersections and other traffic-controlled traffic sections in order to enable rescuers and helpers to get to the place of use as quickly and unhindered as possible.
In the fight against fire as well as in life-saving time it is a decisive factor. In just six minutes, for example, the core temperature of a fire can quadruple, in only four minutes the average survival rate of heart patients decreases from 42% to 7%.
Thanks to constant readyness, fire brigades and rescue emergency vehicles can move out quickly. It is a huge problem and tragic, if their vehicles are stuck in traffic or even involved in an accident, while beeing in an emergency mission.
In order to prevent this, the AM.COM system provides emergency vehicles with a free driving passage at traffic light intersections and pedestrian crossings.
The traffic light management system recognizes that an authorized emergency vehicle is approaching a traffic light and switches to "green" in its direction of travel.
Once the emergency vehicle has passed, the normal traffic light control is automatically switched on again.
Therefor emergency vehicles on approaching street crossings automatically generate traffic light controls to switch to "green", enabling accelerated, safer and smoother rides.
Emergency rides may be watched and recorded in "real time" action via Internet.

Detection of water-loss via VERICOM smart metering mesh network solution
The main question for us, when deciding to invest in new water solution for our city was “Where does water loss – we recognized during the last years - come from ? ” We recognized that we still had a few old and uncalibrated water sub-meters in field and some of our existing water grid was not metered at all.
“Therefor for us it was clear that we needed new meters at latest state of technology and a remote meter reading solution, which informs in real-time about inconsistencies in our water network.
Additionally we were able to fetch data of our big water grid meters and residential meters remotely.” explained the responsible person for water network.
With VERAUTs Radio Mesh-Network solution “VERICOM”, we are able to read, manage and store 100% of all our meters hourly.”
The customer invested in 213 new ultrasonic water meters, due to fact of high accurancy and maintenance free installation of ultrasonic water meters, additionally the meters offer wired M-BUS interface for digital remote read-out solution. Additionally each meter was equipped with VERICOM – Mesh-network radio nodes, which read the meter hourly and transmit meter data via radio to cloud service in real-time for analysis, billing and alert information purposes.
“Due to remote read-out, water leackages are detected within short time and efficiency has gone up, we also reduced meter reading out time from 42+ hours to just 1 click ” said the responsible water grid operator.
How does it work?
On approaching crossings, traffic light control signals are triggered via cellular/mobile communication on time, enabling faster emergency rides. The emergency vehicle's position is tracked every second and position is transmitted automatically to AM.COM web server.
AM.COM webserver calculates all possible routes the emergency vehicle could take and logs on to all possible traffic lights, which could be reached within the next few seconds/minutes.
As soon as a traffic light is likely be the next, the AM.COM server reduces/extends the standard traffic light phases in a way, that emergency vehicle can pass the traffic light when beeing "green". As AM.COM switches to "green" a few seconds before the emergency vehicle reaches the traffic light, there should be no traffic jam or cars in front of the emergency vehicle.
As soon as AM.COM emergency vehicle has passed the traffic light, the traffic light will be switched to standard mode again.
There are no roadway sensors / vehicle detectors necessary for AM.COM to operate properly.
Real-time emergency rides may be watched and recorded via AM.COM web server for analyses.
Due to modular concept and application of open source protocol grants an easy and frabrication-neutral retrofitting of traffic control systems. AM.COM on-board unit is easy to integrate into blue light bar.
Functionallity and positive acceleration effects have been proven in a project, located in the traffic environment of federal hospital at Vöcklabruck/Upper Austria.
